Abby was sitting in her highchair while I went about the task of finding a suitable selection for our lunch. She had a pair of pink flip flops on her feet, grabbed from under my nose out of the closet and refused to let go, but kicked them off as Jedi passed by on his quest to pick up toys. He stopped in front of her for a minute’s distraction and retrieve her freshly discarded shoes. He’s a great big brother, that kid.
“Do you want your shoes, Abby?”, he asked his sister, holding them within her reach.
Pushing them and his hand away, she answered pointedly, “No!”.
He put the shoes back in the closet instead then came up to me as I was stirring noodles on the stove. “She’s learning how to answer questions yes or no”, Jedi said, impressed in his little sister’s growing abilities.
“Yes, she is”, I replied
Then, without missing a beat, “Yeah, but she mostly says no.”
Yes, she does.
Haha I love your kids, C!!! Also, Abby is so beautiful!! What a darling little girl 🙂
🙂 Jedi sounds like an awesome brother!
My daughter prefers “No Way!” but it’s still the same thing. We hear a lot of it here.
Yea … no is learned so quickly and yes takes FOREVER! Why is that?? 🙂 She is a cutie for sure. Great photos!
Jedi sounds like such great big brother! We’ve entered the Age of No here, as well. Shane will even say No when I’m pretty sure he meant Yes.
“Do you want to go outside?”
“No!” (as he makes a beeline for the door).
@Candace, I think she’s pretty cute, too :).
@jesser, My daughter knows yes, but she won’t say it usually. She’ll shake her head instead. But it is very rare.
I find it tremendously entertaining when the oldest notices things about the youngest, and how they feel compelled to tell us. My 16 mo has discovered no, for now it’s just the head nod, and it’s mostly to everything so sometimes means yes. But I see that we too are on our way. Sigh.
@Christine LaRocque, My oldest has grown into quite the tattletale. But that’s OK for now, because there’s usually something going on worth tattling about.
