You don’t have to be the strongest or the wisest or have noticeable super powers to be a superhero. We don’t all need to be the Incredible Hulk, though my Buzz would love if we could. There’s a power in all of us, in a simple desire to help, wherever you can, when the chance is called upon. And the chance is here to help fight hunger. That in itself makes you a hero, especially to a child in need.
Did you know that 1 in 5 kids in the U.S. doesn’t get enough to eat? That statistic is staggering. Even when we haven’t had a lot, I’ve always made sure my kids had food. They’ve never known what it’s like to be truly hungry. But they could, because things happen. We need to help.
The Champions for Kids’ Hunger Heroes campaign is all about action. It’s about turning families into superheroes, and tapping into the incredible power of giving. Every purchase of a Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets 5 lb. bag, a KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese Dinner 7.25 oz. 12-pack, and/or a Capri-Sun 6 oz. 40-pack at Sam’s Club during the month of August will help feed hungry kids in need.
Since my kids eat, drink, and love these products anyway, stopping by our local Sam’s Club to stock up and help out only seemed logical. The 5 lb bag of Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets will make a great lunch along with the KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese cups and my kids go absolutely crazy for Capri-Sun. That’s like the perfect kid meal right there. Or superhero meal. Whatever they decide to be that day.
To prepare our meal, I enlisted my superhero. I guess he heard there were some ghosts around, because it turned out to be my own Ghostbuster, Buzz. Along with him was his trusty Tough Dog sidekick. She’s definitely more bite than bark. They helped place the Chicken Nuggets on the plate then my Tough Dog stirred the macaroni into the Macaroni & Cheese. Luckily, the ghosts stayed away long enough for them to eat and enjoy their lunch.
My heroes are going to don their capes and puppy tales once more when we box up some food to bring to our local food bank.
If you want to be a Hunger Hero, check out the next demos on August 23 and 24 at all Sam’s Clubs. You can also play the Hunger Hero Match Game for the chance to win prizes!
