The birds are soon to start chirping outside windows and along tree branches now that spring is finally here. I’ve heard a few already, but this weather still has them kind of confused. Warm one day, back to winter-like temperatures the next.
I understand your confusion birds.
These baby birds that are happily chirping away in this Nest Full of Baby Birds in a Tree craft aren’t confused. They’re comfortably cozy in their nest made from an old egg carton and scraps of paper.
First, though, you need to start with a tree, which your kids can draw and color in for their home. Make sure you include a big branch for their nest to rest on.
Baby Birds in a Tree Craft
- empty egg carton
- 2 orange and 2 yellow poms
- small googly eyes
- 4 plastic Easter eggs
- brown, yellow, and orange paper
- crayons or whatever you want to used to color in your tree
Draw and color in your tree, however you want. Just make sure you leave a big branch for your nest to rest on.
Cut your egg carton so that you have 4 sections. Rip some brown paper and tuck it in the bottom, mimicking sticks.
Take a pom and glue googly eyes on each. Cut a small square of orange paper then fold diagonally for the yellow birds’ beaks. Do the same with the yellow paper for the orange baby birds. Nestle your baby birds in each egg, beak and eyes up, and place on top of the sticks in your egg carton. Glue the nest onto the branch if you’d like to keep it there permanently.
Chirp, chirp! A nest full of baby birds happily chirping away really brings a tree to life!
