Black Paper Octopus Craft and Art Project
Are you ready to swim under the sea with this vibrant Black Paper Octopus Craft and Art Project?
We love the look of bright colors on black paper. For this Black Paper Octopus Craft and Art Project we used metallic pens, though you could also use chalk pens if you have those on hand. I received these metallic pens for Christmas, though, and we like to use them as much as possible.

We also have an Octopus Template Free Printable to make this craft easier. Download, then trace the pieces on black paper with a pencil. There are only 6 tentacles included on the template, so use 2 of the tentacles 2x to get your octopus’ 8 tentacles.
Other than that, a large set of googly eyes, scissors, and glue are all you’ll need.

Supplies needed:
- Octopus Template Free Printable
- metallic pens
- black paper
- large googly eyes
- glue
- scissors
- pencil
Begin by printing the Octopus Template Free Printable. Cut out each of the pieces and trace each on a piece of black paper. Trace the tentacles enough times to get 8 for your octopus.
Draw a design for your octopus with the metallic pens. We did a mandala sort of design on the large circle. Have fun with it and don’t forget to make a design on the tentacles, too.
Glue the tentacles in place on the back of the large circle. Adhere the large googly eyes in place. We used 2 inch sized eyes.
These would be so fun with our Bubble Wrap Starfish Craft, these Cupcake Liner and Handprint Jellyfish, and our Cardboard Roll Mini Fish. You can also find more summer craft ideas at Our Kid Things!
