While it’s been a long, fun summer, I have to say I think we’re all ready for back to school. At least I know I am. To try to get the kids more excited, we spent an afternoon making a fun back to school Cardboard Roll Duck Tape Pencil Craft with Duck Tape!
With over 250 Duck Tape prints and colors to choose from, Duck Tape makes each project unique in it’s own way. Available at retailers nationwide, Duck Tape is an easy crafting medium for kids of all ages and often does not require additional supplies like glue and staples.
We picked up a couple packs of Duck Tape prints, including their new Daisy print, as well as Duck Tape in yellow for our super-sized No. 2 pencils. Keep reading for your chance to win a Duck Tape prize pack, including Duck Tape prints and $10 Visa Gift Card for your own back to school crafting fun!
For our pencil craft, we first wrapped a cardboard roll, otherwise known as a toilet paper roll, with our selected style of Duck Tape.
We used this super cute owl print for one pencil, which would make such a cute teacher’s gift craft, too. Our other pencil was wrapped in yellow.
Then stuff one end of our fun super-sized Cardboard Roll Duck Tape pencils with pink tissue paper for the eraser and make a pointed pencil tip for the other end.
Cardboard Roll Duck Tape Pencil Craft
- cardboard rolls
- Duck Tape in assorted styles
- pink tissue paper
- cream-colored (off white) cardstock
- black construction paper, cut in strips
- black marker
First, wrap a cardboard roll in your selected Duck Tape print until completely covered.
Take a wad of pink tissue paper and bunch up until it fits into one of the cardboard roll. You may need to work with it to get rid of any lumps and achieve the flat eraser look you want. Apply a line of glue around the inside of the roll and glue in place if needed.
Cut a strip of black construction paper and glue around the edge of the cardboard roll by the eraser.
Take a piece of your cream or off-white colored cardstock and cut into a rectangle. Form a cone that fits just over the other end of the cardboard roll. You may need to cut and continue working with it until you achieve the desired size and look. Color the tip with a black marker. Apply a line of glue around the edge of the cardboard roll to glue in place.
