I love all the fun symbols of the season that we can craft for Christmas. Everything is so jolly and merry this time of year. With a big smile, as well, is our Cardboard Roll Gingerbread Man Craft. So full of cheer, and buttons!
Since we already made our adorable Folded Paper Gingerbread House Craft, which is such a lovely Christmas craft itself, it only makes sense that we need some gingerbread men to go with it. You should also check out our Paper Cone Elf Craft and our Paper Bag Reindeer Craft, too.
For our Cardboard ROll Gingerbread Man Craft you will need clean toilet paper cardboard rolls, cardstock in brown and assorted colors, markers in white, black, and pink, as well as buttons, a 1” circle hole punch, and scissors.
Cardboard Roll Gingerbread Man Craft
- Cardboard roll
- Cardstock – brown, assorted colors
- Markers – white, black, pink
- Buttons, small
- 1” circle hole punch
Begin by cutting the gingerbread man pieces from brown cardstock.
You will need a circle for the face, a long rounded rectangles for the arms, and a long, slightly larger, rounded rectangle for the legs. See image above.
Use the white marker to make “icing” details around the gingerbread man. Draw a smile on the circle, face piece with the white marker, too.
Glue small buttons to the face.
Make rosy cheeks with the pink marker. Let the glue and marker dry completely.
Now cut two slits at the top of the cardboard roll, directly across from each other. Do the same on the bottom of the cardboard roll. They will need to be deep enough to fit the rounded rectangle pieces.
Fold the arm piece in half. Insert the arm piece into the top slits and use the fold to position the arms out. See image.
Do the same for the feet at the bottom of the cardboard roll.
Glue the face to the top of the cardboard roll.
Punch 2 circles out of different colored cardstock. Use the black marker to make 4 dots in the center of the circle, like buttons.
Glue the paper buttons to the front of the cardboard roll.
We hope this Cardboard Roll Gingerbread Man Craft will make you smile! And be sure to check out all of our fun Christmas crafts at Our Kid Things!
