If you’ve been around here long enough then you’ll know that we adore yarn crafts. And so of course we had to make this really fun Cardboard Yarn Wrapped Turkey Craft. What sets it apart is that its made even more adorable with its bobbley bobblehead!
We’ve made some pretty cute turkey crafts for Thanksgiving before, like our Handprint Turkey Paper Plate Wreath, CD Fall Leaf Turkey Craft, and we still absolutely adore this simple Clothespin Leaf Turkey Craft. This Cardboard Yarn Wrapped Turkey Craft definitely makes the cutest list, too.
For our Bobblehead Cardboard Yarn Wrapped Turkey Craft you will need the cardboard from a shipping box. Along with that, also needed is multi-color yarn, various size googly eyes, orange and red cardstock, scissors, and a glue stick.
Cardboard Yarn Wrapped Turkey Craft
- Multi-color yarn in fall colors
- Googly eyes, various sizes
- Cardstock – orange and red
- Glue stick
- Clear tape
Begin by cutting the pieces of cardboard.
You will need one larger half oval shape of cardboard along with a smaller circle shape that fits in the half oval shape.
Now cut notches around the half oval shape, about every 1 ½” apart.
Tape the end of yarn to the back of the cardboard.
Begin wrapping the yarn around the notches of the cardboard. Once finished, tape to the back.
But before the yarn gets too crowded, make the piece for the bobble. For this , cut a strip from the orange cardstock lengthwise. Cut that in half. Glue into an L shape.
And begin alternating folding the sides of the strip, then the other, until it’s all folded over. Glue to secure.
Glue the bobblehead piece towards the bottom of the cardboard half oval, tucked in the yarn.
Make the turkey head. For this, glue on two googly eyes. Also cut a square from the orange cardstock as well as a teardrop shape from the red cardstock.
Adhere all in place.
Glue the head to the center of the bobblehead piece and get a kick out of his little turkey head bobbing around!
Finally, cut two turkey feet from the orange cardstock. Glue in place on the back of the cardboard.
Bobble bobble! So fun! Be sure to check out more of our fun Thanksgiving craft ideas at Our Kid Things!
