The best things in life are made up of small moments. The big events are grand and great in that moment, but it passes. It’s always been the little things that slowly add into a memory of happiness. In fact, what's important is how we make the most of whatever challenge is faced.
The The Happiest Daughter video tells the story of how all families experience unexpected challenges, but what's important is making the most of it; in fact it can teach you to appreciate life even more.
I try to pass this appreciation onto my kids. We haven’t had a lot of big moments yet, but there are plenty of little things that add up. The pride that comes when my daughter read her first book in kindergarten. The normal conversations with my autistic son. Awards and milestones and how my 10 year old refuses to let type 1 diabetes slow him down. A push on the swing, a game of catch, an afternoon of Monopoly. Candles blown out on birthday cakes, balloons and new toys. Every hug given, every kiss on the cheek, every high five. Their smiles when they’re happy, their laughter, their love.
It all adds up into hopefully a memory of happiness.
We’ll have those big moments. The vacations and occasions and graduations. It’ll come in time, and those memories will shine big and bright. What lasts, however, is the day to day. We may not have the most, but we have enough. It’s the little things.
That’s why it’s important to Keep Good Going. We all face certain challenges in our life, but it’s important to hold on. There’s always a reason to make the most of it. I can’t think of any better than my kids. They deserve the best. They deserve to Keep Good Going by Celebrating Good. That’s one of the most important gifts I can give as their mom.
New York Life is also showing how they perpetuate the good through a digital billboard, which captures and tallies in real-time all of the moments of family good around Mother's Day! I agree that we have to celebrate the good and we also need to pass it on to others!
