Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. As a child, I’d eagerly and impatiently count the days until it was time to decorate. My favorite memories were of coming home from school to find freshly wrapped presents underneath the tree. I’d shake and rattle, trying to guess if this was the box containing my most requested item. Sometimes, it was a harsh let-down of underwear and socks. For others, however, the anticipation paid off. Like when I received Iggy, the iguana I thought I so desperately wanted.
For the record, make sure your child knows what she’s getting into when asking for a pet iguana. Iggy, may he rest in peace, never had a chance.
There is no denying the magic of the holiday, however. It has carried over to my own children, where I’m now able to experience the joy of the season in a brand new light.
While there is nothing like waking up on Christmas morning to a tree overtaken with pristinely placed bows perched atop colorful wrapping paper, I now realize all the tiring work that goes into that. It’s more the smaller aspects I find the most appealing. Simple charms like our stockings hung in order of age, saved and handmade ornaments, traditions passed down, and the Santa hats my kids love to wear. These are the earmarks that warm my heart those December days.
There’s an excitement that exudes when those trademark envelopes come through the mail. Some of the best, with handwritten notes and telling family portraits, become treasured keepsakes. There’s penmanship, it’s personal. At Storkie.com you can peruse a beautiful selection of classic and photo Christmas cards sure to fit anyone’s style. They are also easily customizable. It’s all about your personal, simple touches that make the Christmas season so great. I will say it’s a much better expenditure than an iguana.
