We found these little 2 inch clay pots at Dollar Tree. I thought I would use them while caring for houseplants, but they’ve found another use with this adorable Thanksgiving turkey craft. You gotta love simple, inexpensive holiday crafts!

You will also need acrylic paint in red, orange, yellow, and brown for the typical turkey feather colors. We also used green and purple for our turkey feathers.

Clay Pot Turkey Craft Supplies Needed

Thankful Turkey Craft Step by Step Directions

Start by painting at least 6 jumbo craft sticks. You can use as many as you’d like. The fuller the turkey, though, the better.

Paint craft stick feathers.

We painted our craft sticks red, orange, yellow, purple, green, and brown. Let the paint dry completely.

Cut yellow beak and red wattle.

While the paint is drying, make the clay pot turkey. For this, cut a small beak out of yellow cardstock and a raindrop-shaped wattle from red cardstock.

Add googly eyes.

Add self-adhesive googly eyes to the clay pot. The self-adhesive eyes are just so much easier.

Glue beak and wattle.

Glue the beak and wattle in place, too.

Write what you're thankful for on jumbo craft sticks.

Now, when the craft sticks are completely dry, use a black sharpie to write one thing you’re thankful for at the top of each stick.

Add craft sticks to clay pot.

Finally, add all the sticks to the turkey clay pot. The craft sticks work as the colorful feathers as well as a great way to express and show everything we have to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
