Coffee Filter Watercolor Fall Tree Craft
All the many beautiful colors of fall take center stage in our Coffee Filter Watercolor Fall Tree Craft! This is a lovely art project, using washable markers to make vibrant watercolors, and a great fall kids craft project all in one.

The great thing about using washable markers to make watercolors is that not only are the colors bright and beautiful, but you can make the pattern and combination of colors however you’d like. Being a fall tree, be sure to use lots of red, orange, and yellow, but we also threw in purple, a bit of green, and even a touch of blue, too.

Washable Marker Watercolor Fall Tree Craft
To make our watercolor fall tree craft you will need coffee filters, washable markers in fall colors, toilet paper size cardboard rolls, brown acrylic paint, a spray bottle of water, and scissors.

Watercolor Fall Tree Coffee Filter Craft Supplies Needed
- Coffee filters
- Washable markers – fall colors
- Cardboard roll
- Brown acrylic paint
- Spray bottle of water
- Scissors
Watercolor Fall Tree Craft Step by Step Directions
Begin by gathering washable markers in your choice of colors and coffee filters. As these are fall trees, it’s always good to use plenty of orange, red, and yellow. We tend to include purple in our fall colors, as well. For these trees, we also used a touch of green and a few small streaks of blue, too.

Lay a coffee filter flat on something that will protect the table underneath. We used paper plates. Begin coloring the coffee filter with washable markers.

Color in whatever design, or non-design, and combination you choose for your fall trees.

Once the coffee filter is colored in, spritz with a few sprays of water.

Continue the same process with more coffee filters. You will need 2 coffee filters for each tree.

Let all the coffee filters dry completely.

While the coffee filters are drying, paint a cardboard roll brown for each tree you’re making. If your cardboard rolls are already brown, then you may skip this step. Our rolls were white, but we wanted a deeper brown color, anyway.

Now, when everything is dry, cut slits around the top of a cardboard roll. Bend the slits back to make branches.

Then, choose two of your dry watercolor filters.

Stack the two of the watercolor coffee filters. Grab the filters in the center and kind of scrunch. Seperate and shape the coffee filter so it looks full.

Finally, insert the center of the filters into the cardboard roll. You can glue the coffee filters in place at this point if you would like to make sure the tree is secure.

We adore this beautiful and captivating autumn craft for kids, and hope you will, too!
