Have you heard of the Octonauts? The series is currently airing on Disney Junior here in the US. From their official introduction, the Octonauts are a crew of eight adorable animals who explore the ocean in search of adventure and fun! From their undersea “Octopod” base, the eight talented critters (including a valiant polar bear, daredevil kitten, and big-hearted penguin) are always ready to embark on new exciting missions.

We were recently sent the Octonauts Octopod Playset from Fisher-Price to play with and review. This is a set for ages 3+. It includes over 10 play pieces including Barnacles and Kwazii, who are undersea creatures seen on the show and a clip-on Octo-Alert that features phrases and sounds. SRP $34.99.

I’m here to tell you, this would make a fabulous gift for Christmas! In fact, it’s in my Christmas Gift Guide. Even if your kids know nothing about the Octonauts, this is still a fun and super cute playset. It’s made of plastic but it’s durable and ready for a lot of creative play!

Here Comes the Octonauts! DVD

If your kids aren’t yet familiar with the Octonauts, however, a great start is the Here Comes the Octonauts! DVD. Released from NCircle Entertainment, this DVD is a 6-episode set that is currently available exclusively at Toys R Us.
