For these Cork & Button Christmas trees, you’ll need wine corks. They sell these in a bag at any craft store. You’ll need green buttons in varying sizes, as well. You could also incorporate other button colors of Christmas, too, like red, blue, or silver. Sparkly buttons would be nice, too. Then to complete your trees you’ll need toothpicks and yellow foam stars.

Supplies needed:

  • wine corks
  • green buttons in varying sizes
  • wood toothpicks
  • small yellow foam stars
  • glue

Start first by inserting a toothpick into your cork. The cork should be soft enough for the tip of the toothpick to insert securely. Try to make sure it’s standing up straight.

Then gather your buttons. Begin by sliding the largest button on bottom and continuing until you fill the toothpick, leaving the tip of the toothpick bare for the star. End with the smallest button on top.

Take 2 of the yellow foam stars, remove the paper so they stick together, and sandwich the 3 top of the star together, leaving the bottom open. Slide the open bottom of the stars over the tip of the toothpick and press together. Glue can also be used to make sure the star and buttons are securely in place.
