Craft Stick Black Cat Craft

Let’s just say that we have a few cats. I’ve never thought to put them in scarves, though. I’m sure that wouldn’t go well. Our Craft Stick Black Cat Craft, however, is such a cute Halloween kids craft that goes very well with the season. Black cats in scarves! For Halloween! We took the whole black cats for Halloween thing just a step further and gave them scarves made with yarn! Because it’s usually chilly around Halloween and cats want to look stylish, too. Plus, it gives the black cats a nice little pop of color.

Halloween Black Cat Yarn Wrapped Craft

To make our Halloween black cat craft you will need regular wooden craft sticks, black acrylic paint, black cardstock, a white paint pen, small googly eyes, yarn in your colors of choice, scissors, and a glue stick

Craft Stick Black Cat Craft Supplies Needed

  • Cat Tail Template
  • Craft sticks
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Black cardstock
  • White paint pen
  • Googly eyes, small
  • Yarn – color of choice
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Black Cat Craft Step by Step Directions

Start with 5 regular wooden craft sticks. Line up the craft sticks with the two on the end higher than the others to make ears.

Glue 5 craft sticks together with a spare piece of cardstock, with the 2 sticks on the ends taller.

Then, we glue our craft sticks to a scrap piece of cardstock on the back to keep together. Better than hot glue.

Paint craft sticks black.

Paint the craft sticks black. Let the paint dry completely.

Cut tail from black cardstock.

Next, cut an S tail shape from black cardstock. You can use our template instead, to make getting the shape easier, if needed. It’s always fun to freestyle it, though.

Add googly eyes.

When the paint is completely dry, glue googly eyes.

Use a white paint pen to draw nose and mouth.

Use a white paint pen to draw a nose, mouth, and whiskers.

Wrap yarn around cat.

Now, cut a strand of yarn and wrap the yarn around the cat a few times.

Tie ends of yarn and trim off excess.

Make sure you leave enough on both ends to tie in a knot. Then, just trim off any excess yarn to complete this darling Halloween black cat craft that kids will absolutely love!
