I’m pretty excited about all the cute Valentine’s Day crafts we have for you to make with your kids! If you’re still looking for a handmade gift idea, however, this Craft Stick Framed Heart Flowers wall hanging is such a sweet present for Valentine’s Day or save it for Mother’s Day!
This Craft Stick Framed Heart Flower Craft is made especially beautiful with the pop-out paper heart flowers. And to make the heart flowers in our Craft Stick Framed Heart Flower Craft extra easy to put together, we have a Free Heart Flowers Template. This template includes 5 hearts to make flowers in the size needed.
Needed along with our Free Heart Flowers Template are blue and green acrylic paints. We used two different shades of blue for our frames. As well, you’ll need craft sticks, cardstock in your flower colors, green paper, twine, scissors, hot glue, and regular glue.
Craft Stick Framed Heart Flower Craft
- Heart Flowers Template
- Craft sticks
- Acrylic paint – blue, green
- Cardstock – choice of flower colors, green
- Hot glue
- School glue or glue stick
First, gather 5 craft sticks. 4 are needed for the frame, the other one will be cut in two at differing heights for the flowers.
Paint 4 craft sticks blue. Paint the craft stick for the flowers green.
Hot glue the ends of the 4 blue craft sticks together into a square, with 2 sides higher than the others.
Turn the square over to the back. Cut the green craft stick. On one of the raised sides, hot glue the green craft stick stems. Turn back over to the front.
Cut hearts from the template. Trace onto the cardstock flower color of choice and cut 5 out.
Leave one heart flat. Fold the other 4 in half. Glue one side of the folded heart to the bottom heart. Glue the next folded heart to the previous folded heart and so on. Once all hearts are glued together, take the other side of the last heart and glue to the other side of the bottom heart. Your heart should now open in a pop-out flower.
Glue the heart flower to the top of the green craft sticks. Cut two leaves out of the green paper and glue in place on the stems.
Hot glue a loop of twine to the top of the craft stick frame for hanging.
We think this is a wonderful gift idea for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day! Or, you could simply make for a spring decoration. If you’re still looking for more Valentine’s Day ideas, though, be sure to check out all of our Valentine’s Day kids crafts at Our Kid Things!
