It’s back to school time! It’s been a long summer, what can I say? I think we’re all excited to go back, actually. And in celebration of the occasion, we spent some time crafting this Craft Stick Jumbo Pencil Craft!
This is the latest of our pencil crafts. To be honest, I originally got the craft supplies out because I imagined this Craft Stick Jumbo Pencil Craft to be like back to school photo frames. It still could, I suppose, but we really like them as just a decoration. For our Craft Stick Jumbo Pencil Craft you will need 8 regular craft sticks per pencil. Also, yellow paint, glue, scissors, cardstock in black, pink, and brown, as well as an optional black sharpie.
Craft Stick Jumbo Pencil Craft
- Craft sticks
- Yellow acrylic paint
- Cardstock – black, pink, brown
- Black sharpie (optional)
Begin by painting 8 craft sticks per pencil.
We added just the slightest bit of orange to our yellow to make it darker and more of a no.2 pencil color. Let the paint dry completely.
Cut a rectangle of pink cardstock wide enough to fit all craft sticks. Glue the tips of the craft sticks to the bottom of the rectangle.
Once glued in place, trim the excess pink cardstock away and round the top edges.
Cut a thin rectangle of black cardstock a bit longer than all the craft sticks. Glue in place at the tips of the craft sticks and wrap around the pink cardstock.
Also cut a wide triangle from the black cardstock, again long enough to cover all the craft stick. Glue in place on the other end of the craft stick, behind the tips of the craft sticks.
Now, cut a rectangle from the brown cardstock. Make one side with random jagged edges and glue in place at the tip of the craft sticks. Trim the excess from around the craft sticks.
Finally and optionally, use a black sharpie to write no.2 or some other fun back to school message on your jumbo pencil. Be sure to check out all of our fun back to school craft ideas at Our Kid Things and there’s more craft stick crafts, too!
