My daughter doesn’t have a lot on her Christmas wish list this year. She’s actually letting Santa get off pretty easy. She wants decorations for her room and she wants craft kits that she can create with. Now that’s easy. One such kit that she can create her own decorations with is Oonies!
From Moose Toys, the makers of Shopkins as well as many other toy sensations, Oonies are the coolest new way to create! They’re like strong little bubbles or balloons that stick together. Kids can take an Oonies pellet, place it in the inflator and watch it magically grow in to an Oonie!
We were sent an Oonies Starter Pack to review. This pack comes with an inflator, 36 pellets in assorted colors, accessories, connectors, eyes, double suction cups, and an instruction manual. We were also sent the Oonies Mega Refill Pack with so many more Oonies to create with!
You can inflate your Oonies big. You can inflate your Oonies small. You can inflate your Oonies any size at all! Well, almost. They will pop if you go too big.
There are so many creatures and designs you can create with Oonies. Inspired by the included instruction manual, we started off by making an elephant, which turned into a pig with a long tail, as well as a colorful duck. By the end of the day, we had an entire Oonies farm.
Inflating your Oonies is really easy, actually. Open the chamber and insert an Oonies pellet.
Lock the chamber into the inflator.
With a few pumps of the blue lever, your Oonie begins to inflate. All without the need of batteries!
The Oonies can then be stuck together to build whatever you can imagine. You can also stick on the included eyes and accessories like wings, feet, and ears.
At first, I have to say I thought that Oonies may be too involved and my 9 year old daughter wouldn’t have much interest. Sometimes, I really underestimate her. I’m happy to be wrong this time. She caught right on with how to inflate the Oonies and exclaimed how easy it was. Then spent the rest of the night building her creations to display around her room.
We may even have a winter Oonies Penguin “ooniement” hanging from our Christmas tree. How are you getting crafty this holiday season?
