On my list of dream destinations to vacation squarely sits New York City. I’ve been in fascination of it’s bright lights and bustling pace since I was a little girl. There is just so much to see, to do. Does it really never sleep?
I’ve yet to actually make it, however. It’s still a dream destination. The only version of New York City I know of is vicariously through conversations and media. I’ve been able to form a full itinerary, though, plotting my every little move.
There are the obvious places to visit around the city, like Central Park and Times Square. While I’m not the biggest fan of theatre, I’d have to take in a Broadway Show for the experience alone. And because I’d be there with my children, it wouldn’t be right of me to pass up a peek inside FAO Swartz.
But then there’s so much more. Such as the variety of food to try. While my kids probably wouldn’t allow me to fit in at the upscale establishments, I’m sure there are plenty of diners and street cafes to make up for it.
Then again, I could just stand in awe in the middle of it all while gazing up at the towering skyscrapers as they ascend into clouds. But doing so would be holding up the bustle.
You can even depart for many family cruises from New York City. So while you’re waiting for your ship to leave, that time can be spent exploring all that NYC has to offer. It’s like a vacation within a vacation.
I remember when I was little, my mother told me that New York City was the one place she’s always wanted to visit. That’s what started it all for me. Someday soon I hope to be able to take her there, all of us, and we can stand in awe together.
