It’s always fun to find new ways to paint and create art, especially for little ones, like making our Crumpled Newspaper Painting Trees Scene. Though my older kids have a lot of fun painting with crumpled newspaper, too!
This is such an easy scene to create and so open ended. Kids can completely cover the paper in beautiful colors, making their foliage any way they want. It’s all up to you and that’s what makes this such a fun art project.
Simply cut strips of cardboard for the trunks and stems. As a blogger, I get a lot of boxes sent to me so this is a wonderful way to reuse and repurpose those cardboard boxes. Make a few taller for trees and some littler for flowers or different colored bushes. Then just gather your paint colors and crumple balls of newspaper.
Crumpled Newspaper Painting Trees Scene
- cardboard strips
- paint in green and other various colors
- white cardstock
First, cut strips of cardboard. Make some bigger for the trunks of the trees and some smaller for the stems of the flowers. Glue those into place on your piece of cardstock. Take a paintbrush and paint your flower stems green. You can also paint a line of grass on the bottom of the page.
Then, gather sheets of newspaper and crumple them into balls. Spread your paint colors, giving each color plenty of its own space. I like to do this on a paper plate. To paint, dip the newspaper into the paint and dab onto the paper to make foliage for your trees and flowers. Continue to dab and paint until you’ve made your masterpiece.
This is such a fun art project! I hope you all have fun making this Crumpled Newspaper Painting Trees Scene with your little ones!
