3 Great Movie Night Popcorn and M&M Treats #MovieNight4Less (ad)

Oh the weather outside is frightful. Literally. We’re in the negative degree wind chills already and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. These nights, though, are the perfect kind for a movie night.

The Dark Knight

For a great movie night, you need a great movie and fun treats to go with it. There are these great #MovieNight4Less pallets at select Walmart stores that have everything you need. Since my kids weren’t going to be joining us this time, I picked up The Dark Knight on my trip. While there, I also grabbed a 6 count box of Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn as well as several boxes of M&M’s®. Just like we’re at the movies! Only better!

Only better for many reasons. Because we don’t have to leave the warmth of our home and trudge out in the cold for one. Our couch is much more comfortable than theatre seats, too. But we can also fix up our popcorn in fun ways that are more than just butter. I made ours 3 ways.

Peanut Butter M&M® Popcorn Balls… on a stick

These popcorn balls are made by melting a ½ cup of butter and 1 16 oz bag of mini marshmallows together with ¼ cup of oil. Pop a bag of popcorn in the microwave, removing any kernels, and in a large bowl combine your butter and marshmallow mixture with your popcorn and M&M’s® until well coated. Press into a greased pan to cool slightly. Then, cut out small squares and form into balls. Keeping some cold water on hand helps with the stickiness a bit.

Dark as Night Popcorn

To go with our movie selection of The Dark Knight, I made M&M® popcorn using dark chocolate M&M’s®. Drizzled with a light coating of vanilla almond bark, I also included chocolate sprinkles for an extra dose of darkness. This is especially great served warm, before the bark has set.

This is probably the easiest of all. Pop a bag of popcorn. Spread the popcorn and a box of Peanut M&M’s® evenly on waxed paper. Cover it all with vanilla almond bark. Then, wait until it’s set. Waiting is the hardest part. Cut out pieces.

  1. I love the idea of the M&M Popcorn Bark. It looks delicious and totally gluten free. Perfect for movie night cuddled on the couch.

  2. Yum! That all looks tasty. My husband is out of town and I am planning a Mommy and little boys movie night tomorrow night. I think i just might have to whip up a couple of these treats for them to make it even more special.

  3. I love the popcorn balls! The only thing bad about them is how I eat them all after I make them. Not a good thing, considering I am trying to eat healthy. I try to convince myself not to feel too badly since the popcorn is good fiber.

  4. OMGosh! That popcorn bark looks absolutely delicious! I could eat the entire bowl! We have movie nights a lot with the kids…i’ll have to make this sometime for the kids.

  5. There just aren’t enough sweet & salty desserts. This looks perfect for satisfying that need (not want, but needed). We’ll be snuggling up with this and a good movie this weekend.
