No matter how old you are, play is an important part of life. We all know the saying, “All work and no play…”. For kids, they need unrestricted time outdoors to run off energy and explore. But only 31% of today’s kids get outside and play.

We were sent 2 boxes of CLIF Kid Zbars in Iced Oatmeal Cookie and Chocolate Chip flavors. I can honestly say my kids loved them. In fact, they thanked me for getting them and I’ll definitely need to pick up more soon. This past weekend, though, they were the perfect snack to munch on while playing our game of Backyard Ring Toss.

There’s no need to spend a lot of money on games for the backyard. Simply use what you already have around the house. For our Easy DIY Backyard Ring Toss, I wrapped a foam wreath form I already had around in bright yellow tape. You could also do this a pool noodle. Then, we stuck 2 old stakes in the ground.

This is a fun, easy do it yourself version of a classic favorite and a great way to get kids playing outside. One kid tosses the ring to one stake and the other kid tosses the ring to the other stake. Whoever makes the most “ringers”, when the ring makes it around the stake, wins the game!

  • yellow tape
  • 2 wood stakes

Wrap a foam wreath form in yellow tape, or any color tape you choose. We chose yellow because it’s bright.

Insert 2 wood stakes into the ground about 10 feet apart, or however far you think your kids can toss accurately, yet still make it challenging.
