DIY Hot Glue Snowflake Charms

Living in the Midwest USA, we’re used to a lot of snow during the winter months. This year? Not so much yet. It’s been rainy, very rainy, but barely a sprinkle of snow thus far. We can still celebrate winter and the snow we hope to see soon with these DIY Hot Glue Snowflake Charms!

A great craft and jewelry piece for older kids who may not be as likely to burn themselves on the hot glue, these Snowflake Charms are surprisingly simple and fun to make. Take a large keychain ring and add on a smaller necklace loop. Then, fill in the large ring completely with hot glue, paying special attention to where it’s going to meet with the metal of the keychain ring. Hot glue dries fast, so you’ll have to quickly sprinkle with glitter and then push your snowflake into the glue in the center of your charm.

Slide your Snowflake Charm onto a necklace and you have a wonderful winter fashion accessory! Also, would be great for any little girl who just so happens to be into the movie Frozen.

Supplies needed:

  • large silver keychain rings
  • small rings (I believe they’re called fishing lure keyrings)
  • hot glue
  • glitter (we used blue and gold)
  • snowflake buttons or gems
  • wax or parchment paper

First, lay out a piece of wax or parchment paper and get all your supplies ready. Then, slide a small ring onto the large keychain ring. Hold your ring steady on the paper and fill the inside of the ring completely with hot glue in an even layer.

Before the dries, quickly sprinkle with glitter. Apply your snowflake.

Once dry, peel from the paper underneath it. Then just add to a necklace and wear with your favorite winter sweater! Bring on the snow!
