There are so many things you can teach your children about money, but when it comes down to brass tacks, it can be a struggle to impart onto your child how to live happily when you have very little money. If you live a hand to mouth existence, and you struggle to pay your bills, that idea of living practically when you haven’t got much money is a very real struggle for many families. The important thing we all need to do is to lead by example in this respect so our children can learn life skills that make them self-sufficient to get by in those inevitable days when they have very little money. So, if you find yourself struggling, here are some things to consider.
Have A Cupboard With Staple Ingredients
We all need to eat, and we don’t need lots of money to ensure that we eat well. As well as various tinned items that sell for cheap, such as pulses and lentils, you can use basic food ingredients from your cupboard to make a very healthy soup. It’s always a good idea to pick your time to go to the supermarket so you can pick up fruit and vegetables that are nearing the end of their best before date, so you can turn them into a hearty and healthy meal that you can portion up and freeze. This will give you so many more meals in the coming weeks.
Debt Consolidation
This is a very difficult area for some people, some people have got themselves into a cycle of debt, where they take a loan out to pay another loan, and so forth. But there are ways you can help yourself to keep on the good side of debt. There are average credit credit cards that people can take out and used to pay for the shopping, and then pay off the cards, so they continuously remain in good credit. If you do this for a while, it opens you up to a lot more perks. If you have good credit, it means you can be considered for a let alone with affordable repayment terms, meaning you can pay off that debt that has been hanging over you for so long.
Embracing Happiness
Without sounding like a major hippy, if you can learn to live happily within your means, this will give you a far better quality of life. The big problem most of us have in relation to money concerns is that it occupies the vast majority of our thoughts. So, this means you can very easily get weighed down by the prospect of debt or lack of money. There are simple ways for you to practice being happy, such as mindfulness or gratitude, but the important thing is to continually practice these things. Most people try these things once and give them up. In feeling that you are free from debt, even though you have money worries, this goes a long way to redress your attitude towards money.
Sometimes we can look back on earlier parts of our life and realize that we were much happier when we were poor. Because you can learn to live within your means, but also by addressing proactive approaches to getting out of debt but by also learning how to be happy and enjoy life, these will be the tools you need to really enjoy yourself. And realize that money, albeit an essential thing, doesn’t need to dominate your life.
