Egg Carton Flower Garden Craft

Do you have a green thumb? I’m working on mine. But you don’t need one with this lovely Egg Carton Flower Garden Craft. What you do need is a green paintbrush, an egg carton, and assorted colors of cardstock for this spring flower craft that’s sure to grow on you. Grow on you, like a garden. Get it? Ok, I’ll stop.

We’ve also included a Free Printable Flower Template to make it all easier. It has a template of the flower shape used, but you could always make your own flowers for this craft, too. The circles for the inside of the flowers are included, as well, but circle paper punches are a lot faster if you have those available.

Spring Egg Carton Flower Garden Craft

To make our egg carton garden you will need our flower template if you’re going that route, an empty paper egg carton, green acrylic paint, regular craft sticks, green and other assorted colors of cardstock, circle paper punches, scissors, and glue stick.

Flower Garden Egg Carton Craft Supplies Needed

  • Flower template
  • Paper egg carton
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Cardstock – green, assorted colors
  • Circle paper punches – 1”, ¾”
  • Craft sticks
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Egg Carton Spring Flower Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin with an empty paper egg carton.

Cut 3 cup section from egg carton.

Cut a section of 3 cups from the egg carton. Trim the egg carton so it sits flat, with the bottom now the top.

Paint green.

Paint the egg cups green.

Paint craft sticks green.

Also, paint the craft sticks green. We made 5 flowers, so we painted 5 craft sticks. Use as many as you’d like. Let all the paint dry completely.

Trace and cut out flower shapes.

While the paint is drying, print out the template and cut out the pieces. Trace the flower on multiple bright spring colors of cardstock. Cut out the flowers.

Trace and cut out leaves.

Trace and cut out the leaves on green cardstock. We used two leaves per flower.

Make a bunch of circles.

Next, either use the circles from the template or use paper punches. Either way, make a bunch of circles, some larger and some smaller.

Glue flower shape to top of craft stick.

When all of your pieces are cut and the paint is dry, glue a flower to the top of a craft stick.

Glue smaller circle in center of larger circle and glue to flower.

Glue one of the smaller circles inside a larger circle. Then glue the circles in the center of the flower.

Glue leaves on craft stick.
Flowers.

Finish the flowers by adding leaves along the upper part of the craft stick.

Insert pointy end of scissors in top of egg cups.

Now, have an adult take a pointy pair of scissors or knife and carefully make a small slit in the top of each egg cup.

Insert flower into slit.
Flowers in egg carton.

Insert the flowers into the slits. You can take the flowers in and out of the slits, changing the look of your garden.

Make a bunch of flowers in many different colors to switch up how your garden grows. You can also make a larger egg carton garden base, too, for even more growing flowers.
