There are a lot of things your kids are going to need for school that never used to be a concern and I will give you an example of this. Your kid needs a cell phone for school, and ideally, it needs to be a smart one that is capable of loading up the latest apps. What age should you begin to think about buy your kid a cell phone? As shocking as it might sound, 11 might not be too young. The reason is that more and more teachers are keeping up to date with their students through messenger apps. Or, even sending out assignments through apps like this which is just completely crazy. But it’s happening, and if your kid’s phone buzzes there’s a good chance it’s their teacher updating them about an assignment. Here are a few other things kids now need for school.
A Decent Laptop
You might think that if you just get your kid a laptop that allows them to write up essays and assignments, that’s enough, but it isn’t. Your child might be asked to develop a powerpoint presentation research information online or even watch videos online for a certain topic. All these possibilities require your kid to have a fantastic computer. According to laptop.review, you could be looking at spending over a thousand to make sure that your kid has the right tech.
You might also want to think about making sure that your child has a few additional tech pieces of equipment including a printer, an external hard drive and even a scanner! The external harddrive is the most important piece of the puzzle because it will ensure if your child ever loses a piece of homework they have a backup.
A Full Wall Planner
You can help your kid make one of these or you can buy them from places like Walmart. It’s essentially just a large board where they can put notes for their assignments that are due and keep up with their study schedule. You’d be amazed by how much coursework and assignments your kids get, even at an early age. They have to stay on top of these things, and a full wall planner will help them do this. Essentially, by 13, teachers are starting to prepare your kids for college with multiple assignments due at the same time. Remember when teachers only gave one piece of homework out a week? Well, your kids sure don’t.
This could be a rubber stress ball, it could be a basketball hoop over a bin that they can throw junk pieces of paper through. They need to have something to relieve the tension that will no doubt build due to the immense levels of pressure they are often under to get good grades and succeed in school. There’s been a lot of debate recently about whether children are losing their childhood because they are being forced to focus on exams and studies. Whether or not that is true, you certainly need to make sure your kids are relaxing each day and dealing with stress. Otherwise, school could easily become overwhelming for them.
Times certainly have changed, and school life is nothing like what you might have been used to.
