To make these adorable fall leaves, you will need a pack of silk leaves in fall colors, regular wooden craft sticks, light pink and brown acrylic paint, small googly eyes, ribbon scraps in your choice of colors, a black marker, scissors, and a paintbrush

Craft supplies needed.

You will also need either a glue gun or, if crafting with littler ones, glue dots will work just fine, too.

  • Silk leaves
  • Craft sticks
  • Acrylic paint – light pink, brown
  • Googly eyes, small
  • Ribbons
  • Black marker
  • Glue gun or glue dots
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush

Fall Leaf Puppet Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by painting the craft sticks with brown acrylic paint.

Paint craft sticks.

Set the sticks aside to dry.

Add googly eyes.

Next, add a pair of small googly eyes to the leaves with a glue gun and glue sticks. You can use liquid craft glue or glue dots for this project, too.

Add dots of light pink paint for cheeks.

Add dots for the cheeks to the leaf puppets by dipping either a new pencil eraser or the tip of a paintbrush into pink acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry.

Draw mouths with black marker.

Once the pink paint is dry, draw a huge smile on the leaf puppets from cheek to cheek with a permanent black marker.

Glue leaves to craft sticks.

Then, attach the leaves to the craft sticks.

Attach ribbon bows.

Tie a variety of colored ribbon scraps into bows and trim any long ends with scissors. Attach the bows to the craft sticks with a glue gun and glue sticks, or glue dots, to finish the leaf puppets.
