Are you looking for the perfect last minute New Year’s Eve craft to do with the kids? Let them play in paint and make this Fingerprint New Year’s Silhouette Craft! A wonderful way to start the new year and what can turn into a cute yearly keepsake, too.
This Fingerprint New Year’s Silhouette Craft really only needs a few supplies, one of which is a fingertip ready to get covered in paint. A few of our other New Year’s craft ideas include our Countdown Clocks Craft, New Year’s Eve Glitter Rings, and this Cardboard Roll Fireworks Scene Craft.
For our Fingerprint New Year’s Silhouette you will need black cardstock, acrylic paints, and large black stickers. So easy!
Fingerprint New Year’s Silhouette
- Black cardstock
- Acrylic paint – variety of colors
- Large black number/letter stickers
You can make the silhouette in this craft one of two ways. One way is to lightly position the numbers/letters on first before the paint and carefully remove after the paint is dry, hoping the paper doesn’t come up with the stickers. The other way is how we did it, using fingerprints to paint all over the paper and then applying the stickers once dry. The below instructions are for this method.
Gather a variety of paints and begin dipping a fingertip in a color at a time until the page is full.
We did one page in golds and silvers and white colors. The other page was just a mix of colorful colors.
Apply large stickers.
We did both a Happy New Year print and 2020 for the year coming up, but it’s an easy craft to do for any new year.
I love these because the pops of paint resembles fireworks exploding behind the new year’s messages. And the gold, silver, and white one reminds of the new year’s ball drop and celebrations.
So easy and great to do while waiting for the ball to drop, at whatever time that may be. Because kids need to get to bed, and who needs to actually stay up til midnight? If you’re looking for more ideas, though, be sure to check out more of our New Year’s craft ideas at Our Kid Things!
