Fingerprint Winter Tree Craft

There’s something so beautiful about trees covered in snow. They’re even more special when it’s our Fingerprint Winter Tree Craft! The fingerprints in white create the snow that covers these simple triangle trees.

Fingerprint Winter Tree Craft

This is a great craft to not only celebrate the winter season, but also to work on triangles. You’ll need to make triangles in all different shapes and sizes to make this craft work best. Then stand them in simple cardboard roll tree trunks. It’s a fun and easy way to celebrate the beauty of winter, and a perfect way to start the cold weather crafting season.

Cardboard Roll Winter Tree Fingerprint Craft

For our fingerprint winter trees, you’ll need cardboard rolls, cardstock in your choice of colors, white acrylic paint, and scissors. A super easy and fun winter craft with minimal supplies!

Fingerprint Winter Tree Craft Supplies Needed

  • Cardboard rolls
  • Cardstock – choice of colors
  • White acrylic paint
  • Scissors

Winter Fingerprint Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by cutting triangles from cardstock in your choice of colors.

Cut triangles from cardstock in a variety of shapes and sizes.

We used gray, green, blue, and red for our trees. Cut the triangles in varying shapes and sizes.

Pour white paint.

Now, pour a generous amount of white paint. 

Dip fingertip in white paint and make fingerprints for snow.

Dip a fingertip in the white paint and form snow with fingerprints on the trees.

Continue making white fingerprints until trees are snow covered.

Continue until your tree is covered with fingerprint snow.

Fingerprint trees.

Then, do the same on the other trees. Let the paint dry completely.

Cut cardboard rolls in half or thirds.

While the paint is drying, take a cardboard roll and cut in half. Or thirds, depending on the size of your trees and cardboard rolls. We used toilet paper size cardboard rolls, but you could also use paper towel rolls and cut accordingly.

Make small snips in both sides of cardboard roll.

Then, make a small snip on both sides of the roll.

Insert triangles in cardboard roll slits.

Finally, when the paint on your triangles is completely dry, insert a triangle into the snips on a cardboard roll to complete a winter tree. Do the same for all the trees to create a beautiful winter scene!

  3. Dip a fingertip in the white paint and form snow with fingerprints on the trees.
  4. Continue until your tree is covered with fingerprint snow.
  5. Then, do the same on the other trees. Let the paint dry completely.
  6. While the paint is drying, take a cardboard roll and cut in half. Or thirds, depending on the size of your trees and cardboard rolls. We used toilet paper size cardboard rolls, but you could also use paper towel rolls and cut accordingly.
  7. Then, make a small snip on both sides of the roll.
  8. Finally, when the paint on your triangles is completely dry, insert a triangle into the snips on a cardboard roll to complete a winter tree. Do the same for all the trees to create a beautiful winter scene!
