Flowering Hearts Cactus Craft
Because even the prickliest pears can have a heart. Or, simply because we can appreciate a hearty cactus. Or, like true love, a cactus continues to thrive through thick and thin. For these reasons and so many more, we adore this Flowering Hearts Cactus Craft!
I’m pretty sure the cactus should be the official plant of Valentine’s Day. Because not only is it tough and determined, but it can also flower, too. And leading the way is our Flowering Hearts Cactus Craft. Which isn’t to say we don’t appreciate an actual flower craft. We’ve made plenty of those, as well. Like our Egg Carton Flower Bouquet Cupcake Liner Flower Cards, and Plastic Fork Tulips.
For our Flowering Hearts Cactus Craft you will need craft sticks, 4 per cactus. Also gather red, pink, and brown cardstock. The remainder of the supplies include green paint, a black sharpie, a heart hole punch, scissors, and glue.

Supplies needed:
- Craft sticks
- 4×5 cards of cardstock – brown, red, and pink
- Green acrylic paint
- Heart hole punch
- Black sharpie
- Scissors
- Glue
Gather 4 craft sticks for each cactus. Cut one in half.
Paint all green. Let dry.
Glue 3 of the craft sticks together in the center of a brown card. Glue the craft stick that was cut in half and across the 3 craft sticks, each in a different direction like limbs.
With the black sharpie, draw lines across the craft sticks for spikes.
Cut a card of red or pink cardstock in a rectangular strip about 2” wide, 2 ½” in length for the cactus pot. Fold the sides in so that one end is slightly wider than the other.
Glue around the bottom of the cactus, the wider end up.
If using red for the pot, punch 3 hearts out of the pink stock. Is using pink for the pot, punch red hearts. Glue 2 of the hearts onto the tips of the cactus, the other on the pot. With the black sharpie, draw lines on the pot for detail.
I’m sure even the prickliest of pears will love this fun Flowering Hearts Cactus Craft! Be sure to find more fun Valentine’s Day crafts at Our Kid Things!
