Footprint Waddling Penguin Craft

There’s something so super charming about penguins. The way they are, the way they walk or waddle. Speaking of waddling, that was our inspiration for this absolutely adorable Footprint Waddling Penguin Craft.

Paper Plate Footprint Waddling Penguin Craft

This fun penguin craft is made super simply with a paper plate for the body of the penguin. Paint the paper plate black, add the eyes and a beak, then finish with some darling oversized waddling feet.

Our penguins merrily remind me of the movie Happy Feet, with all the cute penguins dancing around. These are definitely some happy feet!

For our footprint penguin craft, you will need paper plates, black acrylic paint, cardstock in white, orange, and your choice of colors for the feet, large googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick.

Footprint Penguin Craft Supplies Needed

  • Paper plates
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Cardstock – orange, white, choice of colors
  • Googly eyes, large
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Paper Plate Penguin Craft Step by Step Directions

Begin by painting a paper plate black.

Paint paper plate black.

Let the paint dry.

Fold sides of paper plate.

When the paint is dry, fold the sides in for the flippers.

Paint flippers black.

Paint the top of the flippers black and let that dry, as well.

Trace footprint on cardstock color of choice.

Now, as the paint is drying, trace footprints on the color cardstock of your choice. You will need a footprint from both feet for this craft.

Cut out footprints.

Cut out the footprints.

Cut white circle and orange triangle beak.

Cut a circle from white paper or cardstock, as well as an orange triangle for the beak, too.

Glue circle to body of paper plate.

Next, once the paint is dry, open the flippers and glue the white circle to the body of the penguin. Refold the flippers back over the body.

Add eyes and beak.

Add large googly eyes. Glue the beak in place, too.

Glue feet together.

Then, glue the feet together at the heel.

Glue feet to bottom of plate.

Finally, glue the feet to the bottom of the paper plate for a super cute and happy waddling winter penguin that’s ready to dance.

A super fun waddling footprint winter penguin craft made from a paper plate

Materials

  • Paper plates
