Breakfast. It’s a word that sends shivers down my spine. I don’t do breakfast. I never have, really. Personally, I’ve never really eaten breakfast. I’ll enjoy a bowl of cereal as a midnight snack, but I’m just not hungry for it in the morning. I do feed my kids breakfast, however. It’s a do as I say not as I do that parents have the right to enforce. It has to be quick and easy, however. Which has usually meant pop tarts.
Until I met Carnation Breakfast Essentials at my local Walmart, which I was even able to purchase with a coupon for a $1 off!
Carnation Breakfast Essentials is an easy solution for busy mornings. It’s available in a variety of ready to drink shakes, powders and bars that, with 21 vitamins & minerals along with 13g of protein and as much calcium as a 6 oz cup of yogurt, they are nutritious for kids, teens, and adults. We prefer the chocolate variety, which is kid friendly and mother approved.
And the powder is really great for making a quick, easy, and nutritious breakfast. Add a few pieces of fruit, mix it up, and you have some delicious smoothies to start the day. You can use one container of Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Powder to make multiple smoothies, with all kinds of smoothie recipes to try.
Mocha Berry Frappuccino Smoothie
Which, speaking of waking up. While I may not eat breakfast, I have nothing against drinking it. Thus, I’ve been playing around a bit to find a more adult smoothie that I really enjoy, with a hint of coffee because I need the kick. I think I’m on the right track with this Mocha Berry Frappuccino Smoothie.
3/4 cup strong coffee
3 tbsp granulated sugar
1 cup low-fat milk
2 cups ice
2 tbsp Carnation Breakfast Essential Powder
1/4 cup blueberries
whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup are optional
Mix together all ingredients in blender.
While I make mine with just a handful of blueberries, raspberries would probably be really good, too.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
My kids’ favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie. With half a banana and some peanut butter, it’s a perfect mix of protein and vitamins. It’s also really easy to make. A great option for those of us who aren’t quite awake enough yet in the morning, but still want to give their kids a great breakfast. Breakfast smoothie using Carnations Breakfast Essentials.

I need to turn my daughter on to these. She’s not much of a breakfast eater and I’m afraid that once she starts college in the fall it will get even worse – these though, she could make in her dorm room and grab and go as she’s heading out to class.
Rarely do I miss breakfast. I think those smoothies/shakes would make for good desserts, too.
I love breakfast smoothies. I’ll have to try this Carnation Breakfast Essentials.
I love peanut butter with bananas. That smoothie looks delicious and healthy!
