When Jedi was initally diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in August 2010, it was without a doubt the scariest time of our life. No one wants to witness their child being rushed to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. And while I can't say that the time since diabetes entered our daily lives has been easy, that time has taught me to appreciate every single moment.
What's really been amazing since is how well Jedi has taken it. There have been many questions along the way, though he always seems to have more answers than I. I was imagining the worst as far as fights over insulin injections and finger pokes for blood sugar readings, but he has been an absolute rock star. So not only has he taught me to appreciate every day, but also to celebrate the little surprises along the way.
We've had a few of these life-changing moments in recent years. In each instance, I have tried my best to not dwell on the negative and instead revel in the knowledge it brings. Though it's hard when you're in that frightening situation, you realize there's no other way as time moves on.
I am excited to be writing this post on behalf of Allstate Good Life, who's "Good Hands for the Good Life" is a new and different approach for an insurance company. Instead of dwelling on fear, they hope to be a voice of optimism and celebration. That there may be risks everywhere we venture, but we shouldn't let that stop us from living our lives to the fullest.
Because of this, Allstate wants to celebrate your moments with you. They hope to be a part of your Good Life and would love if you'd comment with your own story of triumph.
It is so scary when your child is in danger. I’m glad he is handling it well.
Life can be scary sometimes.
