Googly Eyed Monster Spiders
It’s the time of year for everything creepy and crawly. And that’s definitely a good description for most spiders. Unless it’s this glittery Googly Eyed Monster Spiders craft!
Our Googly Eyed Monster Spiders craft has to be one of the cutest spiders I’ve ever seen. Granted, that’s not a hard title to take. But with a body from a paper bowl, sparkly glitter, a face full of googly eyes, 2 sharp fangs, and pipe cleaner legs, you’ll be OK if this spider climbs around for awhile.
He may be crawly, but I hope our Googly Eyed Monster Spiders are anything but creepy! They’re happy spiders, after all. Because you can’t be mean when you’re covered with glitter.
Googly Eyed Monster Spiders
Supplies needed:
- paper bowls
- black pipe cleaners
- black acrylic paint
- fine glitter in assorted colors
- googly eyes in various sizes
- small hole punch
- yellow construction paper
- glue stick & school glue
- scissors
First, paint the underside of the paper bowl black. This is now the top and body of the spider. Once dry, punch 4 holes on both sides for the spider’s legs. Cut 2 pipe cleaners in half, then cut in half again so there are 4 legs from one pipe cleaner. Slide just a bit of one end through the hole, fold, and twist in place. Bend the other end.
Apply a generous layer of the glue stick to the top of the spider’s bowl body. Carefully spread glitter, covering all the glue. Tap off excess. With regular school glue, randomly apply different sizes of googly eyes.
Snip 2 triangles from a piece of yellow construction paper and glue it to the front of the spider.
Creepy and crawly and so very cute! These spiders are a great way for kids to really get creative with a number of different materials and come away with a truly awesome Halloween decoration. Be sure to check out more Halloween crafts and recipe ideas at Our Kid Things!
