Hand and Footprint Rocket Craft
Personally, I am over the moon for this Hand and Footprint Rocket Craft and I know that whoever is the recipient of this absolutely adorable keepsake will love it just the same!
Perfect for Father’s Day, or any day when you want to share just how much you love that special someone, this Hand and Footprint Rocket Craft is a great toddler craft idea. Utilizing your little one’s fingerprints, handprints, and footprints all in one scene, it’s a super sweet way to say I Love You to the Moon and Back!
Our Hand and Footprint Rocket Craft needs cardstock in black and red, as well as acrylic paint in red, orange, yellow, cream, and blue. The only other supplies are scissors and glue, along with a cute set of hand and feet.
Hand and Footprint Rocket Craft
Supplies needed:
- Cardstock – black and red
- Acrylic paint – red, orange, cream, yellow, blue
- Scissors
- Glue
Using the cream colored paint, apply paint to the bottom of your little one’s foot.
Carefully stamp the foot in the center of a full sheet of black cardstock. Wipe the foot clean.
Mix the red and orange paint lightly so that the colors are still separate but combined. Dip your little one’s hand in the paint and apply a handprint to the toe end of the footprint.
Don’t worry if the handprint doesn’t come out exactly. Your little one may be like my little one and doesn’t want to cooperate. It just adds to the beauty of the piece. Let prints dry.
Cut 2 triangle shapes out of the red cardstock for the rocket fins.
Glue the fins to the sides of the bottom of the footprint, before the handprint begins.
Make a circular moon shape coming off the page with yellow paint, large enough to write a message of I Love You to the Moon and Back.
Now, dip a finger in yellow paint and dot around the black space. With some of the finger dots, use a toothpick to scratch paint from the center in a burst pattern.
Make a few more fingerprint dots with the blue paint, as well. Then, once the paint is dry, write a message in the moon shape if you’re giving to dad or leave it as is for an all-year keepsake.
