I don’t know about you, but I’m already dreaming of fall. Cozy sweaters, hot chocolate, and a cool night by a campfire under the stars. At least you can get one of those anytime now with this adorable Handprint Campfire Craft.

Our campfire craft is not only a cute fall kids craft, but it’s a sweet keepsake for the season, too, using handprints to make the flames of the fire. Not just for fall, though, you could also use this craft as a fun camping craft. The rest of the craft is super easy to create. A few details with markers then finish with sparkling metallic marker stars. This is such a great craft for kids of all ages.

Fall Campfire Handprint Craft

To make our handprint campfire craft you will need cardstock in black, brown, red, and orange, as well as a brown marker, a silver or light gold metallic marker, scissors, and a glue stick.

Craft supplies needed.

  • Cardstock – black, brown, red, orange
  • Brown marker
  • Metallic marker – silver or light gold
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Campfire Camping Craft Step by Step Directions

Start by tracing your little one’s handprint on red and orange cardstock..

Trace handprints.

You will need 4 handprints total, 2 in each color for each campfire craft.

Cut out handprints.

Cut out the handprints.

Cut brown paper strips.

Next, cut two strips from brown cardstock.

Draw wood details with brown marker.

Use a brown marker to draw bark and age lines on the strips to give it the appearance of wood.

Glue brown paper strips to black cardstock.

Glue the strips towards the bottom of a sheet of black cardstock, in a wide X pattern.

Glue handprints over wood.

Now, glue the 4 handprints on the wood, one layered over the other.

Draw stars with metallic markers.

Finally, use a metallic marker to draw a starry sky over the campfire. We drew the tiniest star shapes, then also made simple dots with the metallic marker to look like stars that were further in the distance.

Get out the marshmallows and hot dogs! This campfire craft is such a fun way to get excited for those cool, fall nights. It’s also a great camping craft, too.

Use handprints to make the flames of the fire in this red hot campfire craft

Materials

  • Cardstock - black, brown, red, orange
  • Brown marker
  • Metallic marker - silver or light gold
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Instructions

  1. Start by tracing your little one’s handprint on red and orange cardstock. You will need 4 handprints total, 2 in each color for each campfire craft.
  2. Cut out the handprints.
  3. Next, cut two strips from brown cardstock.
