Handprint Parrot Craft

It’s time to gather handprints for our adorable and super colorful Handprint Parrot Craft! The handprints act as the feather for this parrot craft, and you can make them any and every color you’d like.

These parrots really make me happy, they’re just so bright and cheerful. To make them even easier, we also have a Free Printable Parrot Craft Template. Simply trace your handprints, print the template, and have fun creating!

Colorful Handprint Parrot Craft

To make our handprint parrot you will first need to print the parrot template. The remainder of the supplies include cardstock in your choice of colors, a black sharpie, glue, and scissors.

Parrot Handprint Craft Supplies Needed

  • Parrot Template
  • Cardstock – assorted color
  • Sharpie or gel pen
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Handprint Paper Parrot Craft Step by Step Directions

Print the template. Cut out the pieces.

Trace and cut out template pieces and handprints.

The template includes the parrot’s body base, beak and eye. Trace and cut out the patterns from the cardstock colors of your choice. Also, trace and cut out handprints from your cardstock colors of choice. Make them as colorful as you can, or stick with a color theme. Make your parrots however you’d like!

Glue beak on side of body.

Glue the beak cutout to the front side of the head part.

Glue eye to face.

Glue the eye cutout on the head part. Then use a sharpie to draw in the details for the beak.

Glue three handprints together.

Take any 3 handprint feather cutouts and join them together like a chain, keeping the fingers facing downwards.  This pattern will be the tail feathers of the papercraft parrot.

Glue handprint feathers to body.

Glue the handprint feather chain to the tail part of the body base.

Glue another handprint.

Now, glue a different colored handprint feather cutout near the tail feather pattern.

Glue more feathers to the base.

Glue another cutout near the previous one. Try to cover bottom half of the base with the handprint feather cutouts.

Glue the last handprint feather. to cover the base.

Finally, glue a handprint feather cutout for the wing to complete the papercraft parrot.
