If you’re looking for a fun craft to celebrate July 4th, then you’re going to adore this Handprint Patriotic Gnome Craft! Such a sweet keepsake for this time of year, too, with a darling handprint used as the gnome’s beard.
We dressed our paper gnomes in red, white, and blue, using either stripes or stars to decorate our pointy hats. Then we drew a few more stars around the background with metallic pens. Super cute, and easy, too! Would make a great July 4th card to hand out!
Make a Gnome Craft for the 4th of July
To make our fun gnome craft you will need cardstock in red, white, blue, and brown, a ⅝” circle paper punch, a star paper punch, silver and gold metallic pens, scissors, and a glue stick.
July 4th Gnome Craft Supplies Needed
- Cardstock – red, white, blue, brown
- ⅝” circle paper punch
- Star paper punch
- Metallic pens – silver, gold
- Glue stick
Handprint Patriotic Gnome Craft Step by Step Directions
Begin by folding your base cardstock sheet in half.
Cut along the fold. Set one half aside for another gnome.
Now, trace a handprint on white cardstock.
Glue the handprint toward the bottom of the base card.
Punch a circle from the brown cardstock using the ⅝” paper punch. Glue the circle towards the center of the handprint.
Then, cut a triangle from the other color cardstock. If you used red for the base, use blue for the hat and so on.
Decide how you want to decorate the hat. If using stripes, cut thin strips from white paper and glue across the hat. Trim excess before gluing the hat in place. We’re going with stars on the hat show, though, and glued the hat in place over nose first.
Punch stars using our star paper punch.
Glue the stars around the hat.
Finish by drawing some stars in the background with a metallic pen.
So cute and fun, such a sweet patriotic craft!
