I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
I’m sure by now we all know that back to school is here. The time for homework and cafeteria lunches and catching the bus. It’s also time for getting back into some of the routine that we’ve been a bit lax with.
Now, I have to admit that I am a stickler for schedule. I like knowing the set time when something will happen. I know when my kids will wake up in the morning, when I will have extra time to get what I need accomplished. Lunches are at noon, bedtime is 8:15. Not that they ever go to sleep then, it’s not that easy. But you know, the usual.
With school, however, comes even more of the routine. As it has been all summer, mornings have become lazy. They lounge around in pajamas until almost the afternoon. That is about to change. And the sooner they get back into it, the smoother it will run.
However, the greatest thing we can do as parents when our kids go back to school, is simply support them. Give them the encouragement they need to succeed. I am so glad to be a Boys and Girls Club of America back-to-school ambassador to help do my part in getting the word out.
Each year, one million students fail to graduate high school. This scary statistic proves the increasing important of supporting today’s youth. This back to school season, the BGCA along with long-time partner Disney, have launched an online supply drive.
Donating to the supply drive is simple. All you need to do is play a pop-quiz style game. For every 5 correct answers, a donation of supplied will be made to local BGCA Clubs. For more information on this initiative, and to help with supplies for those kids in need, visit here. There are additional resources on the BGCA Facebook page, as well.
The BGCA website also offers a plethora of educational content for parents as they prepare to send their children back to school. It can be a scary time, for kids and parents alike. But with some support and encouragement, we can make it a successful year together.
