A lot of us make a choice to be stay-at-home parents. It’s a difficult thing to decide because it could mean throwing away a career we worked very hard to get. Some parents argue that you can both go out and have careers while you leave your kids with their grandparents or a nanny. This isn’t a bad idea, but I don’t think it’s fair on your parents to make them raise your kids, particularly after they raised you! As for a nanny, well, they can cost a lot of money.
No, most of us don’t want to leave our kids with someone else, we want to help raise them ourselves. After all, this strengthens the bond we have with them, so it makes a lot of sense. Of course, the downside is that we might have to give up our job.
Or do we?
Modern parents are very lucky in that the internet is a massive thing with so many different uses. One thing the world wide web has brought us is a plethora of different job ideas for stay-at-home parents. So, even if you quit your old job, you can still earn money while looking after your kids at home. Here are a few ideas that you might enjoy:
Carry On Your Old Work As A Freelancer
The beauty of the internet is that it makes many jobs easier for you to do on your own. Loads of people might work for companies, but have a role that they can take up as a freelancer from home. Some ideas that spring to mind are if you used to be an accountant at a big firm, or maybe you were a web designer for a company? There are countless jobs you may have been employed in, which you can now carry on as a freelancer. The benefit of this is that you don’t have to re-train as you still have all your skills and knowledge. Plus, as a freelancer, you obviously get to work from home and still keep an eye on your kids. Not only that, but you can be more flexible with your work and only take on jobs if you’re not too busy. If you’ve spent years studying, getting a degree, finding a job, and becoming good at something, then why throw it all away? You don’t have to, become a freelancer and enjoy the best of both worlds.
Become A Day Trader
Trading stocks and shares from home has become very popular in many households up and down the country. It’s an accessible career to get into – seeing as you don’t really need any educational requirements. All you have to do is use some of your own money and set up a trading account online. Obviously, the more research you do, the better you’ll be at trading and making money. The main reason I think this is such a good idea is that you can get your hands on trading software for algo trading. Algo trading is short for algorithmic trading, and it basically means you have software that makes trades automatically based on different algorithms. In short; you can look after your kids while you make dozens of trades and turn a profit. So, if you’re into the stock market and all that jazz, then this could be a great way for you to make money. Especially if you’ve previously held a job in finance or something else relating to this industry.
Start A YouTube Channel
Another thing the internet has given us is YouTube. Many parents may know this as a great tool for keeping your kids happy and entertained when you’re busy. Find some kids videos on YouTube, and they’ll be well looked after while you cook dinner. But, this website is also home to many parents making a lot of money. How? Well, countless parents decide to vlog their life or create YouTube channels dedicated to different things. As more and more people watch their videos, they start to earn revenue through ads and sponsors. This could be a good idea for you if you’re comfortable in front of a camera and feel quite creative. There’s a lot of money to be made on YouTube, and the best part is you just have to live your life. Naturally, this won’t appeal to everyone, but it’s still something you can consider!
See; you can still be a stay-at-home parent and earn a living at the same time. There are three ideas here that all bring in a fair bit of money, but they also don’t disrupt your parenting too. You can look after the kids, and look after your bank balance too.
