As a parent, your schedule is messy and full to the brim, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t find time to treat yourself. Whether you have some spare time or none at all, here are a few ways you can treat yourselves when you have children.
Order a Take Out
This is an ideal treat for when you are run off your feet. Let yourself indulge in a tasty treat while taking a break from cooking by ordering out. Most parents understand how non-calming restaurant trips are with little ones and take out is the next best thing. Get yourself on the sofa and dig into a meal you don’t have to prepare yourself!
Have a Glow Up
OK, so glowing up when you have kids isn’t the easiest pursuit, but it is possible. Indulge in some long-lasting beauty treatments like eyelash extensions, waxing, and teeth whitening. You’ll feel better with a brighter smile! Just remember to take some measures to prevent sensitivity from whitening, as looking after children while in pain makes it ten times worse.
Hire a Babysitter
Everyone needs a day off sometimes, so let yourself hire a babysitter and take some time for yourself. Go out for a date, take a trip to the cinema, or simply have a movie night with your friends. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy yourself!
Have a Nap
The idea of a nap to parents is pure heaven, so let yourself have one. Let your partner or a family member watch the kids for an hour while you indulge in some much-needed shut-eye. Let your mind reset itself for a short while, and hopefully, you’ll wake up feeling more refreshed than you did going to sleep. The only negative part of this one is the alarm going off!
Read a Book
Pick up a novel you’ve always wanted to read and allow yourself to drift away. As a parent, it’s easy to make excuses against doing the activities you love, but that way of thinking isn’t healthy. Depending on your kids’ age, you can still keep half an eye on them while letting yourself become absorbed in another world.
Do Some Online Shopping
Walking around stores with your kids can be stressful, so if you want to treat yourself to some new clothes or household items, do some online shopping. The great thing about it is you don’t even have to move from your sofa! Just remember to pop something cute for your kid in the basket, too.
Enjoy a Bubble Bath
One of the easiest ways to treat yourself is to run a bubble bath. When the kids have settled down for the evening, grab a fresh, fluffy towel and turn on the warm tap until your tub is almost full. Throw in some oils for a bit of aromatherapy and let yourself relax in the blissfully warm water. You could even take your book in there for true escapism!
