With Valentine’s Day coming up, I had a great idea for a craft idea using heart shapes to make flowers. Put that together with non-spring clothespins and you have our I Heart Flowers Valentine Holder, a sweet and unique way to keep and pass out Valentine’s Day cards.
I picked up a heart hole punch during one of my many trips down the craft aisle. This was perfect to form the pink and red petals. Cut out a larger heart in purple and glue it in the slot of the clothespin.
The remainder leaves just enough room for a folded Valentine’s Day card or special note for family or the best friend at school!
You could, of course, leave your Valentine’s cards out of it and simply make it a I Heart Flower fun craft for all ages to celebrate the holiday. They also kind of remind me of butterflies, all they’d need are a few eyes.
I Heart Flowers Valentine Holder
- non-spring clothespins
- heart paper punch
- pink, red, and purple construction paper
- green and yellow acrylic paints
First, paint your clothespins. Paint the rounded top yellow and the stem green. Let dry.
Punch out plenty of hearts from your pink and red paper. You’ll need 2 of each for each flower. Once punched, glue the hearts together, alternating colors. Glue onto the yellow rounded top, making sure the slot openings are positioned at the sides of the clothespin.
Cut a larger heart out of purple paper, just large enough to fit inside the slot. Apply a line of glue down the center of the heart and affix it in place.
Should I say it? OK, these flowers have a lot of heart! Ha! Anyway, have a Happy Valentine’s Day, full of hearts and flowers and paint!
