When I was a kid, my favorite thing about the 4th of July were the fireworks. Not even just the big downtown displays, but the bottle rockets and firecrackers we set off in our backyard. Of course, I only safely watched from the sidelines while my dad and older brother did the careful lighting. I see the same wonder in my kids’ eyes now.

The main part of our craft stick firework is made from 3 craft sticks. Then, a triangle tip of construction paper so the firework can fly through the air, and followed by a streaming trail of patriotic ribbon.

Supplies needed:

  • Craft sticks
  • Construction paper in assorted colors
  • Patriotic ribbon
  • Glue
  • Scissors

First, cut a triangle out of a sheet of construction paper. We went with red, white, and blue construction paper to continue with the theme.

Form a line of glue across the bottom of the triangle and adhere 3 craft sticks. I also used a small, thin, rectangular scrap piece of construction paper and glued it down lower across the back of all three craft sticks for further support.

Cut two pieces of your ribbon in slightly different lengths. Glue your ribbon pieces together at the top, then glue onto the back of the craft sticks. Let the glue dry and add a magnet for Independence Day fridge fun!
