Anything that can get all of us up and moving is a great thing. I was recently chosen to review Ubisoft’s Just Dance 4 and it does just that. In fact, you can have up to 4 dancers at a time, which means myself and my 3 kids can all dance like crazy at the same time. It’s a motivating, fun way to exercise as a family!

While the game I reviewed was for XBox Kinect, it’s also available on many other platforms.
When you first start the game, you get to pick your character you will dance as along with typing your name. Then you choose your song. The selection of music to choose from is vast, with a bunch of recent hits with a few classics thrown in, too. With everything from One Direction to Carrie Underwood to Stevie Wonder. The goal is to mimic the movements as closely as possible for the most points. And you need all those points to move on to the next stage.
This game is great. I loved that I was able to burn calories without it feeling like a chore, in fact I wanted to keep going. And hitting all those right moves made me feel like I really accomplished something. It was kind of like Napoleon Dynamite, showing off my sweet dance moves. The best part is that since you’re in the privacy of your own home, no one’s going to care if you don’t have any rhythm.
My kids, however, weren’t so much interested in perfecting the dance, they were just thrilled to be able to jump around. But what they really enjoyed were the videos of themselves after the dance was finished. You make a fan for life any time a kid can see himself on TV.
Just Dance 4 is available on the XBox Kinect, Nintendo Wii, PS3 and the new Nintendo Wii U. It can be purchased at Amazon.com and ToysRUs.com.
