According to Buzz, every woman is mommy and every man is daddy. This is how he identifies and separates male and female. Which is especially enjoyable when we’re in a crowded waiting area or restaurant and he’s screaming at someone across the room. It tends to garner a few strange looks. He’s even mommy-ized random celebrities and miscellaneous avatars I happen to scroll past when on the computer in front of him. My favorite of which was Angelina Jolie. None of whom hold any similarity to myself, unfortunately, except we’re all human and female.
The other day, however, was a first.
Buzz and I were cuddled together on the couch, looking through books before dinner. We were having a moment, flipping pages and naming all the pictures he came across. Santa Claus, reindeer, a cow, a panda bear, a snake. “Good job!”, I’d award every time he was correct, which was often. When he pointed, glanced up at me, and exclaimed, “Mommy!’.
He was pointing to a green chameleon.
As in a lizard.
A bug-eyed, long-tailed, green scaly-skinned lizard. Maybe I’m in denial, and I know I need to moisturize more and the lack of sleep is definitely an issue, but still. I fail to see the resemblance. Let’s just go back to confusing me with Angelina Jolie, OK?
