Made with Hearts Penguins Valentine’s Day Craft

This Valentine’s Day craft is made of hearts. And penguins. And cardboard rolls, too, though those aren’t as cute as hearts and penguins. All together for our Made with Hearts Penguins Valentine’s Day Craft!

I put these together with my daughter the other night before bed. Which is also my excuse for this poor photograph of her. My camera only cooperates under natural sunlight. But we were really happy with how these penguins came out. Hearts and penguins, and especially penguins made of hearts, make everything better.

This Made with Hearts Penguins Valentine’s Day Craft is really easy, too, each taking literally 5 minutes. Gather round some empty toilet paper rolls. Black paper, white paper, and small squares of yellow. Don’t forget the googly eyes!

Supplies needed:

  • toilet paper (cardboard) rolls
  • black, white, and yellow paper
  • large googly eyes
  • glue & tape
  • scissors

First, wrap your cardboard roll in black paper. I used tape for this. Cut away any excess.

Cut a heart shape out of your white paper, I did the fold in half method. Glue that to the front of your cardboard roll, leaving just a little peeking up from the top.

Cut out a small square of yellow paper and fold in half. Glue that in the center of the white heart for it’s beak. Glue on googly eyes, too.

Next, cut a heart shape out of black paper. Then cut it in half. These are for the wings. Glue them to the sides. Cut another heart out of the black paper, and glue to the bottom for it’s feet.
