Mom Tips for Surviving the Day

On the surface, one wouldn’t consider the daily life of a mom to be especially bold. I mean, we’re all fun kids crafts and sweets around here. Let me tell you, however, there are times after a successful trip out with all 4 kids where I feel as if I could easily tame lions. And by successful, I mean nobody’s in tears and we didn’t get thrown out of any establishments. It’s a skill, let me tell you.

Keep a variety of Snacks – My 9 month old is especially fond of puff snacks now, and they’re perfect to store in a diaper bag. Pop one in his mouth if things start to get hectic. Snacks work with kids all ages, though.

Carry a few favorite toys – Leaving home without my son’s favorite purple rattle or his pacifier these days is just asking for trouble.

Use your phone – When all else fails, there’s toddler music and videos to keep their attention on your phone. There’s no shame, we do what we have to do.

Enjoy the small wins – Make it out of the store with your wits in tact? Celebrate! Manage to make it through the drive-thru lane without a complete meltdown in the backseat? It’s a good day!

Savor that cup of Coffee – I try my best to steal a minute in the morning for a few sips, however I need to do it. If I can get through a whole cup without needing to microwave it warm again, that’s another small win.
