Monsters are such a fun craft subject. You should check out our Fork Painted Monsters, Paint Splatter Monster Puppets, and these Craft Stick Monsters, too. And if you need more bookmarks, we have these fun Pineapple Bookmarks to print, as well.
To make our Monster Bookmarks you will need cardstock in a variety of colors, multi-color yarn, white paper, a black marker, a single hole punch, scissors, and a glue stick.
Make your own Monster Bookmarks
Supplies needed:
- Cardstock – assorted colors
- White paper
- Multi-color yarn
- Black marker
- Single hole punch
- Scissors
- Glue stick
First, you’ll need to cut your bookmark base to size.
Our bookmarks were roughly 2 ¼” x 5”. Cut them out of whatever colored cardstock you’d like.
Punch a hole at the top center.
Now draw eyes and a mouth on white paper with the black marker. You’ll need the outlines to be rather thick and easy to cut out. You can also accent with a red marker for the inside of the mouth, too, or use more colors if you’d like.
Cut the eyes and mouth out, around the black outline.
Glue in place on the bookmark base.
Next, take 3 or 4 long strands of multi-color yarn. Fold the strands in half. Twist tightly in your fingers and maneuver through the hole. Once through the hole, make a loop with all the strands.
And bring the other ends of the yarn through the loop. Tighten the loop gently and carefully, so it doesn’t pull through the cardstock.
Trim excess ends.
And your monsters are ready to go crazy for reading!
