Make sure your kids birthday parties go without a hitch with these must have treats!
Too much of a good thing can be troublesome, so it is important not to over stuff the kids with an abundance of sugary snacks and goodies. In addition to being linked to certain conditions, including heart disease, diabetes and obesity, too much sugar can also lead to hyperactivity, which can make children hard to control. This means that any sugary treats you do have need to be spectacular.
Try to introduce the kids to some local delicacies if you can; if you’re in the New Jersey area then you can´t go wrong with salt water taffy NJ style, or perhaps Mississippi mud cake if you’re in the state of Mississippi.
Also popular are children’s birthday party ‘winners’ like milkshakes and fruit snacks on cocktail sticks. The piece de resistance of any sweet treats and at birthday needs to be the birthday cake. As well as being at least a little indulgent, the cake should also reflects the theme of the party.
There is no doubting that most children go to a birthday party dreaming about all the sweet foods that they’re going to be treated to. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t turn a few heads with your selection of savoury snacks.
Pizza is one savoury dish that normally gets tongues wagging, although it is often seen as an unhealthy option, it doesn’t have to be. You can ensure the tasty treat is not too high in fat by creating your own homemade pizza (helping out with the cooking can also be a fun activity for children) and topping it with nutritious food like broccoli and tomato.
As well as being a delicious must-have at any birthday, a good savoury spread will also give your children plenty of nutrients and fill them up so they don’t over eat on the sweet menu.
Many adults (let alone children) find the sight of fully grown men and women dressed up in dungarees, brightly coloured wigs and unnecessarily large shoes rather disturbing; so when it comes to organising the entertainment for a child’s birthday party it is often best to leave Coco the Clown and his friends to their own devices!
However, there are still some great ways that you can treat the kids to some exciting entertainment. One good idea is give each child goody bag. These can contain any number of items, such as props if you’re hosting a themed birthday party. A goody bag is not only a fun treat, it can also help to keep children occupied.
Another fun entertainment treat for children is to rent a bouncy castle. While any use of the equipment should be supervised at all times, bouncy castles can be very fun and can tire the children out, making them much easier to control.
