It can be difficult to get going in the morning. I usually get out of bed before everyone else so that I can get some work done and sip on a cup of coffee, or two, but that still doesn’t mean I have a lot of energy, or that I’m even fully awake by the time the kids get up and demand breakfast.
Which is why I need quick and easy breakfasts. It’s seriously all I can muster in the morning. Luckily, Target has all the essentials to get fueled for school. Like Eggo Waffles and the Kellogg’s cereals we love.
We picked up a box of Apple Jacks on our recent Target trip, along with a couple boxes of Eggo Waffles. My kids like to eat each in their traditional way, a bowl of Apple Jacks in milk and a plate of buttery waffles in syrup. But it’s hard to eat a plate of syrup-y waffles when you’re rushing for the bus stop.
Thus, when a mom is trying to save time, a mom gets creative. And that’s when I came up with these On the Go Cereal Waffle Cups.
For the waffle cups, you first need to thaw the frozen waffles. This can either be done by leaving the box out for a bit, or if you don’t have the time to spare, pop the waffles in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Just until they’re pliable. Then shape into a muffin tin and bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or until browned and crispy.
Then, fill with your favorite dry cereal. I love that there is nothing about these cups that aren’t edible and delicious. The thing I like about using Apple Jacks is that it doesn’t need milk to taste great. The cereal makes a wonderful snack, or on the go breakfast, dry and just by itself. Fruit Loops is another cereal that would be great in a waffle cup.
These On the Go Cereal Waffle Cups will have you stumbling through your morning like a champ. And, when you’ve been patting yourself on the back for too long and realize you’re about to miss the bus, they’re easy to put in the oven while the kids are getting ready, fill with cereal, then grab and go.
Just try not to rush so fast that you spill all your cereal. You don’t want to start your day off like that.

Such a cute snack idea! I would have never thought to do that with a waffle.
I love this idea. I like that you can take it with you on the go – eat it on the way to school drop off!
Oh my gosh this is the cutest idea! Of course my kids love Eggo waffles and adding yummy cereal would be a sure hit.
Now this is a totally clever way to eat a waffle. Does it hold milk for a little bit?
What an adorably fun idea!! I never thought to to anything like this. I really must start thinking outside the box!
