Cut out the hedgehog. Also, cut a strip of heavy cardboard, like from a shipping box. It works best if the strip of cardboard is just slightly larger than the width of the sheet of cardstock.

Apply line of paint at top of cardstock.

Now, gather a sheet of heavy white cardstock and a variety of colors of acrylic paint. Pour the desired colors of paint at the top of the sheet of white cardstock.

Scrape paint.

Next, use the cardboard to begin scraping the paint down.

Scrape paint to the bottom of sheet.

Continue until the paint is all the way at the bottom of the page.

Paint scraped.

At this point, we then scraped backwards to fill in any missed sections. If you’re working with littler ones, though, this is the point where it all could go wrong. So it’s up to you if the single pass through is enough. Let the paint dry completely.
